Firearm Deer Season

This past weekend was the opening weekend of firearm season for deer hunting, which I thought would be a lot easier to shoot a deer with a gun than with my bow...but you have to actually see one to even attempt to shoot at one. The weather conditions were not very good for opening weekend, with temps around 70 degrees the deer tend to stay in bed because it's to hot to move around. Out of the 16 people in our camp (10 of them actually hunting) only two got a deer...no one else even saw anything. It wasn't just our camp that was having this problem, everyone everywhere was saying that they weren't moving. Granted I didn't freeze like last year, but it would have been nice to at least see something.

We had a lot of fun at camp though. The stories that are told around a camp fire will be retold for years to come...and then you have the 'instances' that happen that become stories for future years (i.e. my mom folding herself up in a chair, Larry and his gloves, the 'tornado' and Chris' desire to be outside at that time). We had good food and a lot of fun, just not enough deer were killed...but there's always next weekend and next year.
